Hello Everyone!
Sorry this post is late, It's due to the fact that last night I was watching a film for Comic Relief. It's called Mary and Martha and the meaning to it is very sad.
In today's post I'd like to talk about the horrible disease of Malaria.
I didn't realise how big it is and how awful it actually is.
Did you know that malaria kills nearly 2 million people a year?
And that 85% of those people are children?
There is so many needless deaths to innocent people because they don't have the right protection.
A mosquito net is only £10 yet millions are still suffering and dying.
In Mary and Martha 2 males (11 and 24 years old) go out to Africa for two different reasons. The mother of the younger thought everything would be fine, Malaria wouldn't effect him because it was winter.
Well, it did.
The man of 24 gave all of his Malaria pills away to the children at the orphanage he was volunteering at. He thought that if it happened to him he'd be strong enough to fight it.
But, he wasn't.
And the worst thing is, Mary and Martha was based on a true story.
I found out, from my headteacher, this afternoon that the 24 year old went to my school when he was alive.
That shows how close to home it is.
Everyone seems to be in an illusion that it happens so far away and it could never happen to anyone near us. Well, that's wrong. It does happen to people near us. People just like us.
But, yes, it does happen a whole lot more in under-privileged country's. Places where they cant even afford money for a net.
Imagine if it was someone in your family dying from Malaria. Imagine you couldn't do anything to save them. Even if there was a hospital, sometimes the closest ones are hours away.
Donating even just £1 to Comic Relief can help someone. People are struggling and dying of Malaria right now. They need your help.
A little amount of money to you can go a long way to someone else.
You don't have to just donate, you could 'do something funny for money' and raise the money instead.
There's loads of ways you can help- big or small, it all counts.
You can make a difference between life and death.
If you donate then you won't just help change someone's life but you'll help them keep it.
2 million deaths to a disease which can prevented with our help...
Your help?
Do your bit here.
